The Urban Development Group is responsible for several fields. We contribute to the preparation and maintenance of strategic documents of urban development (eg. Integrated Urban Development Strategy and Integrated Territorial Program). Our tasks include preparing and writing project proposals and performing project management activities related to the funds of the EU and the Hungarian state. In addition, we are actively involved in direct EU-funded international projects and in the work of the European Association of Cities (EUROCITIES), which aims to deepen the city's international network and increase its competitiveness.

The concept of Smart City Debrecen is to create an intelligent, innovative, viable, effective, sustainable, smart, healthy and prosperous city. To achieve this goal, we have developed a strategy together with our partners such as the Municipality, industrial companies, nonprofit organizations, public services, consultants, the University and international organizations. The team is responsible for supplying the management tasks of the strategy and the projects of Smart City Debrecen while building national and international partnerships.
The key focus areas are sustainable energetics, Digital Debrecen and most importantly intelligent mobility. Evidence of the latter are the Smart Crosswalks, the introduction of the e-ticket in public transport, the Rollet parking mobile app and the strategic partnership with the world's largest community-based navigation app Waze.
